Casual Speech : FUTURE

1) Future (Written)

 

1. Verb stem ends with no final consonant, 받침 → attach ㄹ거다.
  • 가다 → 갈 거다 = will go
  • 오다 → 올 거다 = will come

 

2. Verb stem ends with a final consonant, 받침 → attach 을 거다.
  • 읽다 → 읽을 거다 = will read
  • 먹다 → 먹을 거다 = will eat

EXCEPTION:

ex) 듣다 : 듣 → 들 → 들을 거다 = will listen

 

3. Verb stem ends with ㄹ as a final consonant, 받침 → attach 거다.
  • 날다 → 날거다 = will fly
  • 팔다 → 팔거다 = will sell

2) Future (Spoken)

 

It is almost identical to polite future written form. Just change the verb ending, 다 to 야.
  • 가다 → 갈 거다 → 갈 거야
  • 읽다 → 읽을 거다 → 읽을 거야
  • 날다 → 날 거다 → 날 거야
